应资环学院地质学系孙涛老师邀请，美国印第安纳大学李楚思教授于2018年5月14日下午到我院地质学系开展学术交流，并在资环学院一楼报告厅为地质学系100余名师生带来了两场精彩的学术报告，报告会由资环学院院长谈树成教授主持。参加学术报告的还有昆明理工大学任涛老师、管申进老师和中国地质调查局西安地质调查中心的王亚磊博士。
李楚思教授先进行了题为“Distinguishing mantle plume related and tectonics controlled basaltic magmatism: examples from China”的学术报告。介绍了玄武质岩浆的部分熔融条件与控制因素、地幔柱形成过程与其在地表的表现（以美国黄石公园和夏威夷岛链的地质特征为例）、板块构造的运动特点及其与地幔柱作用的耦合等，并对我国一些玄武质岩浆作用，特别是我国西北地区塔里木周缘的众多二叠纪玄武质岩浆作用的认识进行了讲解，指出在开展地质工作时，应注重岩浆作用的时间、空间分布规律与地球化学数据的结合，避免单纯使用地球化学数据而对岩体形成背景进行误判。
随后，李楚思教授还进行了题为“Magmatic Ni-Cu Sulfide Deposits China vs the World”的学术报告。报告从全球岩浆铜镍硫化物矿床的分布特征、矿床理论研究历史开始，详细介绍了现今全球铜镍矿床的主要类型、矿床控制因素、硫化物饱和和熔离条件、岩浆演化和矿床成矿过程等方面的前沿认识；最后以甘肃金川和青海夏日哈木矿床为例，对我国铜镍硫化物矿床的成矿特征与世界上铜镍矿床的异同进行了对比，指出我国铜镍矿床的类型多样，具有特点，尤其是与造山带后碰撞伸展背景有关的铜镍矿床独具特色，该背景下形成的铜镍矿床在全球范围内都具有优势。
参会师生就报告相关的科学问题与李老师进行了热烈的交流和探讨。李老师精彩的报告与丰富的野外和室内科研经历，让地质学系全体师生收获良多、受益匪浅。

李楚思教授简介
Chusi Li received his PhD in geology from the University of Toronto, Canada in 1993. He joined the faculty of Indiana University at Bloomington, USA in 1999 and has worked there since then. He was/is a guest professor at several universities in China at different times. Chusi’s research, teaching and consultancy to mineral industry have mainly focused on the geology, genesis and exploration of magmatic sulfide deposits worldwide. He has supervised and co-supervised ~30 graduate students and visiting scholars, co-edited two books and co-authored ~150 refereed articles published in top-tier international geological journals. He has organized numerous SEG-sponsored short courses on “Magmatic Sulfide Deposits”, including those associated with the 2005 SGA biannual conference in Beijing, the 2009 International Ni Symposium in Xi’an, the 2011 GSA annual meeting in Minneapolis, the 2013 PDAC in Toronto, and the 2017 SEG annual meeting in Beijing. Chusi has been a regular lecturer for the last 11 annual SEG-sponsored “Ore Deposits Models and Exploration” workshops in China. Chusi has become a Fellow of the Geological Society of America and a SEG Honorary Lecturer since 2009. He was the SEG Regional Vice President Lecturer for 2011 and the International Exchange Lecturer for 2017.
